Selecting Tools and Techniques

Our specialist area is helping our customers specify, design and implement systems to solve complex business problems. As part of that, we have accumulated a wide knowledge of the types of tools and techniques that are available, from solid commercial products with large established user bases, through to the newer emerging technologies and products from niche and specialist companies. We also have a deep appreciation of which tools and techniques work well for particular types of problems.

We meet many people who have been triggered into investigating whether their organisation can benefit from automation and/or optimisation of their business processes by something that they have read in the trade press, a journal or even a newspaper. Often, such people have only a very incomplete understanding of what sort of (technical) problem they face, and may suggest quite inappropriate tools and techniques. Such people are usually highly experienced in their own organisation and business problems, and it would be surprising if they were also experts in our fields too

Combined with our independance from any systems or tool suppliers, this gives us a strong position to help our customers choose not only what system to implement, but also which technologies are most appropriate and which suppliers are likely to best meet their needs, not only in terms of the solution, but also the cost and practicalities of the implementation.
